You know that relationship that you can always depend on, always up for a good road trip, comes with the best snacking, jamming out to playlists, and always there to listen?
You also know I’m talking about relationships with cars, right?
My first car-love was Sparkle Blurella. She was my family’s trusty suburban. She had it all: the roomy back seats, the wide windows, and the DVD player. Sparkle housed all my comfortable memories of being driven wherever I needed to go. We traded her in for a pickup truck around the time when I was starting to feel the need to “grow up”. Giving up that car was memorable to me at 10 years old because I was trying my hardest not to cry. After all, it was only a car, but it was all too much for my little mind. Looking back, I can laugh at how emotional I was. I was actually sick to my stomach at the thought of not seeing her in our driveway. I kept imagining another little girl in my comfortable back seat, looking out my window, watching movies on my DVD player.
How special that a car can have that much power in our memories.
Caleb + Allison have a pickup truck. Actually, Caleb has the pickup truck and Allison rides around in it as the best shotgun rider ever. Much like the grip our suburban had on me, I think their truck has the same effect. Though it’s a piece of machinery, it holds a powerful place in their memories.
The thing I love about photography is that there are no rules. Do you want to do your engagement photos in your home? Awesome. Do you want pictures in the mountains? I’ll be there. At the carwash with your truck? When are you free? The possibilities are endless and people like Caleb + Allison allow me to fill up my bucket with creativeness that not many other people can. I’m so thankful for people like them. They’re actually the best ever. That’s coming from both the professional Sarah of Sarah Millikan Photography and the personal Sarah. The one who is focused on capturing the shot that shows who they are and the one who loves getting to know them.
